The Higgs Fake

5 out of 5 stars (5 / 5)

In summer 2012, the world was fed the news of the discovery of a lifetime – the Higgs Boson, also popularized as “the God particle.” But few seriously questioned the science behind this bombshell of a find, or at least the world didn’t hear of such a challenge. However, one scientist not only questioned this discovery but the entire approach to the way such high-energy particles are sought in physics. In The Higgs Fake (CreateSpace Independent Publishing, 2013), German physicist Dr. Alexander Unzicker challenges the modus operandi of high-energy physics that has come to dominate the field of particle physics for the past several decades.

Dr. Unzicker takes readers into the details of what particle physics essentially does, how discoveries are made, and how scientifically solid is the evidence cited in support of such findings. He specifically details some key particle discoveries over the decades and assesses the credibility of their underlying data and its interpretation. Much of the research he puts to question fails the credibility test and, as the physicist tells, is as good as unproven claims. Among these, Dr. Unzicker includes the alleged discovery of the Higgs boson.

The Higgs Fake presents a scientist’s critical analysis expressed in a caustic tone that shakes up the blind belief in contemporary particle physics and the cosmology based on it. Dr. Unzicker pulls no punches when it comes to pointing at the self-serving practices of those leading the field of high-energy physics. He names and calls out a number of physicists who have furthered their careers by jumping on the bandwagon of the absurd high-energy particle physics that is impervious to objective scrutiny and due verification.

In his preface to the book, Dr. Unzicker says that it is meant for the young scholar “who wants to dig into the big questions of physics, rather than dealing with a blend of mythology and technology” (6). But The Higgs Fake is the book for every science student, researcher, teacher, and enthusiast who seeks truth. Missing out on this gem of a book is truly not advisable.
